| nb_NO |
dc.description.abstract | The studies in this Master-thesis is directed towards synthesis of the pheromones lineatin(1)
and grandisol(11). Lineatin is secreted from the female striped ambrosia beetle Trypodendron
lineatum Olivier while grandisol is secreted from the cotton boll weevil Anthonomus grandis.
The configuration of the two molecules are respectively (+)-(1R,2S,5R,7R)1,3,3-trimethyl-
4,6-dioxatricyclo[3.3.1.02,7]nonane and (+)-2-[(1R,2S)-1-methyl-2-(prop-1-en-2-
yl)cyclobutyl]ethane-1-ol
Two strategies were tested, both involve an intramolecular [2+2] cycloaddition by separate
allene-enes. The first strategy was mainly directed towards the synthesis of lineatin(1). The
allene-enes 6a and 6b were produced, but the next step did not work.
With the second strategy the main goal was to synthesise both lineatin(1) and grandisol(11)
from the bicyclo-compound 2,2,6-trimethyl-3-oxabicyclo[4.2.0]octane-8-one(10). We did not
reach this molecule. Instead we focused on finding alternative pathways to improve the yield
in the first step of the reaction. Several of the following reactions are documented in the
literature. The preconditions for synthesizing the main molecules should therefore be
promising. | nb_NO |
