benyttet for datasimuleringen.
Dessuten
| nb_NO |
dc.description.abstract | This master thesis regards the development of a new concept for illumination of sportsfields,
which will give both the spectators and players a better experience than current
solutions. This can be done by creating a lighting system that provides a more uniform
light on the field and utilizes the light source better than current solutions. The concept is
based on directing light using mirrors and is developed to be modular and scalable. This
to ensure that it‘s suitable for upgrading existing lighting installations as well as being
suitable for integration with new stadium facilities.
The aim of this thesis has been to form both a technical and design foundation that can be
used for further development of a dynamic lighting concept for sports stadiums.
There are several challenges associated with the development of this dynamic lighting
system. Many of the problems has been related to mirrors and the steering mechanism,
which is natural since these are essential properties of the concept. Several of these have
been associated with mirror properties, as it have been developed concepts based on the
use of both conventional and flexible mirrors.
To ensure that the concept would be as good as possible, it has been necessary to use a
variety of methods. In order to ensure that the choices taken along the way was the best
for the overall concept was among others Pugh‘s method used. Another important method
in this work has been the use of prototyping. This was put to use in an early stage of the
proses in order to gain insight into how light and mirrors behaves in real life.
The development consisted of several stages, and started with background research on the
topic to form a foundation for the desired specifications. Further by a functional analysis,
a design was developed which later in the proses was refined and redesigned. For both
designs a prototype was developed, where the first one was based on multiple mirrors and
the second one was based on a flexible mirror. The second edition was used as a foundation
towards a full-scale design proposal.
Tests have been carried out in terms of both practical experiments and by using computer
software. Practical tests with the second prototype edition and computer simulations were
performed using a corresponding setup. Since there was some uncertainties associated
with several parameters in the testing and simulations, the results were not compared
directly. Thus, the shape of the projected light and trends for the light distribution was
used as a basis for the comparison.
The concept that has been developed has potential, but it remains significant amounts
of evaluation and development before it‘s ready for commercialization. Further work must
specifically be directed towards the development of a light source with specifications adapted
to this concept.
The correspondence between trends and the shape of the projected light from the testing
and simulation is promising, and thereby supporting the function of concept. Furthermore
it shows that computer simulations can be used as a test platform for a full-scale solution
towards an potential production of a full-scale prototype. | nb_NO |
