Kalnes videregående skole- og dens historiske park

Abstract

Kalnes videregående skole i Sarpsborg kommune er en gammel landbruksskole fra 1870, men som i dag er en offentlig videregående skole. Skolen huser rundt 400 elever, men er også et yndet turområde for besøkende. Skolen har et godt samarbeid med 4H, Bondelaget, Norges Bygdeungdomslag, Forsøksringen og Sarpsborg Rideklubb som gjør at Kalnes vgs. brukes til mer enn bare en utdanningsinstitusjon. Kalnes vgs. er et historisk anlegg, og slike anlegg er viktig å ta vare på fordi de fremmer kunnskap, opplevelser og bruk. En av de største utfordringene med å ta vare på slike anlegg er tilgang på kunnskap om området. Ofte forsvinner de historiske sporene, fordi man ikke er klar over at de faktisk er der. Bacheloroppgaven handler om å ta tilbake de historiske sporene på skolens inntun, som de siste tiårene har mistet mye av sin stramme og flotte utforming den en gang hadde. Inntunet har hatt ulike utforminger som var typiske i sin tid, og fra fotografier og flyfoto ser man at inntunet alltids har vært en viktig plass på skolen. I den anledning har det blitt laget to forslag til inntunet som er en ny tolkning av en historisk utforming, som besvarer problemstillingen; Hvordan ta tilbake historien til inntunet på Kalnes videregående skole? Forslagene er en ny tolkning av de historiske utformingene som har vært, da ingen av de to nye utformingene er helt lik en tidligere utforming. Det er fordi det er tatt hensyn til dagens bruk og fordi at det er noen elementer som er tatt bort. Det viser seg gjennom litteratursøk at Kalnes vgs. har hatt et godt samarbeid med Norges Miljø -og Biovitenskapelige Universitet (NMBU) om både husdyrhold og hagebruk. Derfor er det også hentet inspirasjon fra NMBU sitt inntun, som i dag har en utforming fra tidlig 1900-tallet.

Kalnes Upper Secondary School in Sarpsborg municipality is an old agricultural school from 1870, but today it is a public upper secondary school. The school accommodates around 400 students, but it is also a popular recreational area for visitors. Kalnes Upper Secondary School is a historical site, and such sites are important to preserve because they promote knowledge, experiences, and use. One of the biggest challenges in preserving such sites is access to knowledge about the area. Often the historical traces disappear because people are not aware that they exist. The bachelor thesis is about retrieving the historical traces of the school's courtyard, which over the last decades has lost much of its strict and beautiful design it once had. The courtyard has had different designs that were typical in their time, and from photographs and aerial photos, the courtyard has always been an important place at the school. On this occasion, two proposals have been made for the courtyard that are a new interpretation of a historical design, which answers the problem; How to retrieve the history of the courtyard at Kalnes Upper Secondary School? The proposals are a new interpretation of the historical designs that have been, as none of the two new designs are exactly like a previous design. This is because consideration has been given to today's use and because there are some elements that have been removed. It turns out through literature searches that Kalnes Upper Secondary School has had a good cooperation with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) about both animal husbandry and horticulture. Therefore, inspiration has also been drawn from NMBU's courtyard, which today has a design from early 20th century.
