Sankten i Ålesund : et nytt byrom med blå kobling

Abstract

I denne masteroppgaven prosjekteres et nytt byrom i kjernen av Ålesund sentrum. Målet med prosjekteringsforslaget er å gjenskape den historiske forbin-delsen mellom Notenesgata og havet. Den historiske kaikanten er grunnlaget for designet på plassen, og jeg utforsker hvordan denne kan brukes som konsept i et nytt og moderne byrom som samtidig ivaretar stedets identitet og harmonerer med den omliggende jugendstilarkitekturen. Planforslaget presenteres som et forprosjekt, og det er utarbeidet illustrasjonsplan, teknisk plan, belysningsplan, materialplan, UU-plan, planteplan samt noen utvalgte tekniske snitt til utformingen av stedet. Oppgaven er bygget opp i fire hoveddeler. Først en introduksjon til oppgaven og dens bakgrunn, metode, avgrensning og oppbygging. Deretter følger introduksjon til Ålesund og overordnede analyser av sentrum, som underbygger valget av prosjektområdet. Del tre går nærmere inn på valgt område og studerer næranalyser av prosjektom-råde. Resultatet brukes som utgangspunkt i den videre design utformingen. I del fire presenteres planforslaget, med nærmere beskrivelse og detal-jering av tre delområder. Det vises også en rekke illustrasjoner og perspektiver av de nye byrommene i kontekst. Oppgaven avsluttes med en oppsumme-ring og sammenligning med dagens løsning og en refleksjon. I refleksjonen drøfter jeg planforslaget, designprosessen og veien dit.

In this master’s thesis, a new urban space is desig-ned in the core of the center of Ålesund. The aim of the planning proposal is to recreate the historic connection between Notenesgata and the sea. The historic quayside is the basis for the design of the square, and I am exploring how this can be used as a concept in a new and modern urban space that at the same time safeguards the place’s identity and harmonizes with the surrounding Art Nouveau architecture. The planning proposal is presented as a preliminary project, and an illustration plan, technical plan, lighting plan, material plan, UU plan, plant plan and some selected technical sections for the design of the site have been prepared. The assignment is structured in four main parts. First, an introduction to the task and its background, method, delimitation and structure. This is followed by an introduction to Ålesund and overall analysis of the city centre, which underpins the choice of the project area. Part three takes a closer look at the selected area and studies close analysis of the pro-ject area. The result is used as a starting point in the further design. In part four, the planning proposal is presented, with further description and detailing of three subareas. A number of illustrations and per-spectives of the new urban spaces in context are also shown. The assignment ends with a summary and comparison with the current solution and a re-flection. In the reflection, I discuss the planning pro-posal, the design process and the way there.
