Studenthagene i Uraksen : planlegging, tilrettelegging for bruk og praktisk erfaring

Abstract

I løpet av landskapsarkitekturstudiet på NMBU vil studentene jobbe med natur, kultur, mennesker og ikke minst, å gi ideene sine form. Men det kan være vanskelig å utvikle gode ideer uten å ha praktisk erfaring om hvordan design tar form i den virkelige verden. Selv om man er bevisst på avstand, form, mengde, høyder, farger og komposisjon på papir eller datamaskin, betyr ikke dette at det alltid oversettes til gode valg i skala 1:1.

I 2020 fikk NMBU et nytt bygg for veterinærhøyskolen. Det ble dannet en akse på baksiden av Urbygningen, og der ble det avsatt et areal på ca. 850 m2 for studentaktivitet i 1:1. Arealet er tredelt, avgrenset med klipte hekker og heter Studenthagene.

Med denne oppgaven vil jeg utforske behov for praktisk erfaring i landskapsarkitektstudiet og hvordan studenthagene kan utformes til å være en arena for læring og sosiale aktiviteter.

I tillegg til å forsterke det sosiale samholdet, kan studenthagene føre til bedre forståelse av landskapets egenskaper og hvordan det oppfattes i tid og rom.

Samfunnet i dag krever at nyutdannede studenter skal ha noe type praksis innen faget sitt. Som landskapsarkitekter må vi ofte forholde oss til hvordan det vi planlegger og prosjekterer fungerer i praksis for å kunne gjøre byene våre grønnere og sterkere, for blant annet klimaendringer.

During the landscape architecture study at NMBU, the students will work with nature, culture and people. But it can be difficult to develop good ideas without having practical experience of how design takes shape in the real world. Even if one is aware of distance, shape, quantity, heights, colors and composition digitally, this does not mean that it is always translates into good choices in the real scale. In 2020, NMBU got a new building for the veterinary college. An axis was formed at the back of the Urbygningen, and an area of approx. 850 m2 for student activity. The area is divided in three, delimited by clipped hedges and is called Studenthagene (Student gardens). With this thesis I will explore the need for practical experience in the landscape architect program and how the student gardens can be designed to be an arena for learning and social activities. In addition to strengthening social activities among students, the student gardens can lead to a better understanding of the nature of the landscape and how it is perceived in time and space. Society today demands that newly educated students should have some type of practice within their course. As landscape architects, we often have to relate to how what we plan and project works in practice in order to make our cities greener and stronger, for climate change, among other things.
