Abstract
Alle bedrifter lever under stadig økede press på å drifte sin virksomhet etter bærekraftige prinsipper for å sikre ressurstilgang til fremtidens generasjoner. Denne studien undersøker hvordan Orklas virksomheter implementerer bærekraft ved å kartlegge hvordan de implementerer deres felles bærekraftstrategi. Virksomhetene må selv vurdere hvordan de best kan bidra til denne ved å utarbeide egne interne mål og handlingsplaner i tråd med den overordnede bærekraftstrategien. De overordnede målene i bærekraftstrategien er ambisiøse og ønsket er at bærekraftsarbeidet skal bli en integrert i alle virksomhetene.
Det teoretiske rammeverket for denne oppgaven er Epsteins (2014) modell for Corporate Sustainability supplert med klassiske teorier og annen nyere forskning. Oppgaven bygger på en kvalitativ tilnærming med case som forskningsdesign. Empirien er basert på 23 dybdeintervjuer med ansatte fra Orkla, samt analyse av interne dokumenter. Dette har gitt oss innsikt til å kunne besvare følgende problemstilling:
Hvordan implementeres bærekraftstrategien i Orklas virksomheter
og hvilke meninger har de ansatte om prosessen?
Funnene fra studiet viser at virksomhetene implementerer bærekraftstrategien ulikt, hvor noen benytter seg av mer sammenfallende metoder enn andre. Alle har en bærekraftsansvarlig som skal lede og koordinere bærekraftsarbeidet, men hva rollen innebærer avhenger av tidsbruk, hierarkisk plassering og forankring i ledergruppen. De aller fleste koordinerer arbeidet gjennom tverrfaglige grupper av ulikt omfang og gjennom mål på avdelings- og/eller individnivå. Studiet avdekker at bærekraft per dags dato ikke er fullkomment integrert i noen av virksomhetene og at inntil det blir en realitet trenger virksomhetene dedikerte personer som sørger for at det arbeides med bærekraft, slik at det en dag kan bli en naturlig del av alle prosesser i Orkla. De ansattes syn på denne prosessen er avhengig av hvilke forventninger de har til gjennomføring og hvordan de opplever at egen virksomhet faktisk gjør det.
