Knarvik barneskole : bevaring av eksisterende natur i skolegården

Abstract

Knarvik er et tettsted i Lindås kommune med kort historie. I løpet av de siste 60 årene har stedet gått fra å være utmark til å bli regionsenter i Nordhordland, med et sentrum dominert av næringsbygg og infrastruktur. Ny sentrumsplan for Knarvik skal transformere tettstedet til en attraktiv by, og det planlegges en fordobling i boenheter. Dette gjenspeiles i planleggingen av nye Knarvik barneskole som dimensjoneres for en fordobling av antall elever. Tomten til ny barneskole er i dag en av få bevarte grønne områder i nær tilknytning til Knarvik sentrum, og ligger sentralt til som gjennomfartsåre og samlingspunkt mellom sentrum, idrettshall og turløype.

Under oppveksten tilbringer barn mye tid på skolen og et viktig grunnlag for deres personlige og motoriske ferdigheter blir lagt gjennom fri lek i skolegården. Innslag av natur i barns utearealer er en stor ressurs, og bidrar blant annet til å bedre barnas motoriske utvikling, større kreativitet og bedre konsentrasjon.

I denne prosjekteringsoppgaven av uteområdet til nye Knarvik barneskole legges det særlig vekt på bevaring av eksisterende natur og naturkvaliteter.

Knarvik is a small town in the Lindås municipality with a short history. Over the last 60 years, the place has evolved from being the outskirts, to becoming the regional centre in Nordhordland, with a city centre dominated by commercial buildings and infrastructure. A new city plan for Knarvik will transform the town into an attractive city, while also doubling the residential units. This change is reflected in the planning of the new Knarvik primary school, which is dimensioned for twice as many students as today. The site of the new primary school is today one of the few preserved green areas near Knarvik centre, and is located as a thoroughfare and focal point between the city centre, sports hall and hiking trails.

While growing up, children spend a lot of time at school, and an important foundation for their personal and motor skills are developed through playing outdoors in the schoolyard. The presence of nature in children’s outdoor areas is a great resource and contributes to improving their motor development, greater creativity and better concentration.

In this project of designing the new schoolyard of Knarvik primary school, emphasis is placed on the preservation of existing nature and natural qualities which already exists on the site.
