Sammendrag
This thesis is a case study of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG). From a qualitative point of view, the purpose of this investigation is to gain in-depth understanding about CICIG’s role within the Guatemalan political context. The significance of this investigation is that it provides insight into a unique case. It is because of the uniqueness of its mandate, and its great contribution to the fight against corruption and impunity in Guatemala, the reason why CICIG became an interesting case to study. In order to determine the elements that have resulted in the success of the organization, CICIG has been analyzed from an agent-structure perspective.
