The purpose of this thesis is to see how you can achieve complex building structures by using robots and CAD (computer aided design). This hasn’t been thoroughly tested, which mad the thesis quite challenging. The complexity of the structures today is increasing and that makes it important that the tools also get better. Therefore I think it will be interesting to go through with a thesis about complex building structures. It has been interesting to see how machines and software from the machine- and textile industry can be used to create an efficient building process. The goal have been to find new way of building complex structures and at the same time learn more about complex structures, CAD and CNC machines. I have achieved the goal by first building models with the help of CAD and CNC, and then consulting with entrepreneurs about how this could be built. I have focused on CNC milling, CNC cutting and Nesting, these terms will be explained later in the thesis. The thesis carried out by making a design for a structure which I have been trying to build in two different ways. I made two models which I got my research data from. One of the models I made my CNC milling and another I built out of veneer. My conclusion is that there are several options for new technology to be used in the building business, in terms of designing new building structures and material savings. If these new tools are used correctly, I think one can build a highly complex structure with high precision, with a price that isn’t deterrent. I have been focusing on how to build and design the structure itself, rather than creating a nice and useful design. This thesis has given me practical experience on how to actually build a complex structure and how it will appear in wood.en_US
