Langøyene - ikke bare en badeøy : en mulighetsstudie for revitalisering av Langøyene som frilufts- og rekreasjonsområde

Abstract

Langøyene er et rekreasjons- og friluftsområde i indre oslofjord som har hatt betydning som populær fritids og badeøy helt siden 1952. I dag fins det en del utfordringer og mangler som svekker dens omdømme. Forurensing og uønsket telting er nok de mest kjente, og av de to er det forurensingen som er mest prekær å ordne opp i. På tross av utfordringene er Langøyene fremdeles godt besøkt, spesielt av badegjester på varme sommerdager. Det ligger mye ubrukt potensial i Langøyenes mange kvaliteter. Bymiljøetaten i Oslo kommune, som drifter og forvalter øya, har innsett dette og ønsker å sette i gang tiltak slik at bruks- og opplevelseskvalitetene forbedres og øya blir enda mer publikumsvennlig. Gjennom en problemstilling som er reel er kjernen i denne oppgaven, å fortolke eksisterende intensjoner, og utvikle min egen intensjon om hva Langøyene er og kan bli. Fra en landskapsarkitekts perspektiv. Oppgaven er delt inn i tre deler: Den første delen definerer oppgaven og dens aktualitet, bakgrunn, problemstilling og innhold. I den andre delen gjøres en registrering og analyse av øya, hvor aspekter som historie, landskap, klima og naturforhold, kontekst, infrastruktur og trender i friluftslivet blir tatt opp. Dette utgjør så et grunnlag for oppgavens tredje og siste del. Der presenterer jeg de mulighetene jeg ser for meg i en rekke utviklingsforslag. Forslagene drøftes og presenteres både med tekst, bilder og illustrasjoner uten å gå for langt inn i detaljer. Alle utviklingsforslagene er samlet i en overordnet illustrasjonsplan, der mange av de uttalte behovene innen forvaltningen er imøtegått. Til slutt kommer et oppsummerende kapittel om veien videre og realisering. Min intensjon med revitalisering avLangøyene er at den skal blir den mest allsidige og tilrettelagte rekreasjonsøya blant alle øyene i Fjordbyen Oslo. Attraksjonene er spredt rundt hele øya, og mine utviklingsforslag forsøker å få til en helhet og sammenheng i utforming og funksjoner. Langøyene bør bli et multifunksjonelt, variasjonsrikt, og iøynefallende sted. Langøyene is a recreational area (an island) situated in the inner parts of the Oslo fjord. The island has had a great significance as a popular leisure and swimming- Island since 1952. During the years some challenges have developed, which degrades the islands reputation. Pollution and unwanted camping are the two most well known. The most precarious to solve is the pollution-problem. Despite the challenges, visit numbers to Langøyene is still relatively high, especially by swimming-guests in warm summer days, as always. There are a lot of unused potential in Langøyenes many qualities. The Oslo municipality department, Bymiljøetaten, who manages and operates the island, have recognized this fact and whishes to initiate actions that will improve the overall satisfaction of use and experience. They want to make the Island more attractive for visitors. Given the reality of the issues and problems, the core of this paper is to interpret existing intentions, and from that develop my own version about what Langøyene is and can be. Through the eyes of a landscape architect. This paper consists of three parts: The first part defines and explains the background of the paper, the actuality of the chosen theme, and general content. In the second part, registration and analysis of the island is conducted, covering aspects like history, landscape, climate and nature, context, infrastructure, and trends in today’s recreation. This will then be a basis for the papers third and last part. There I present the possibilities I have identified, in a number of development proposals. The proposals are presented and discussed using text, pictures, and illustrations without going too far into details. All of the development proposals is gathered into an overall illustration plan, where many of the pronounced needs and whishes within the management of the Island is countered for. At the end is a summarizing chapter about the way ahead, and realization of the intentions. My intention with revitalizing Langøyene, is too make it the most versatile and facilitated recreational island among all the other islands in the inner Oslo fjord. The attractions will be spread around all of the island, and my development proposals tries to achieve a wholeness and coherence in design and features. Langøyene should become a multifunctional, varied and eye-catching place.
