| nb_NO |
dc.description.abstract | The need for more housing together with climate change has lead the norvegian densification
– politics to urge the need to densification inside the urban boundary and near
public transport hubs. Stabekk is a town in the commune of Bærum that needs to be
evaluated for densification. Stabekk has a recent refurbished train station with
frequent departures, a good developed bus service and a central location relative to
Oslo and Sandvika. In other words a natural place for densification with many stakeholders
that wants to start building projects in Stabekk. At the same time, Stabekk has
a long history and a clear distinctivness relative to landscape and architecture, which
makes the commune and resident’s association worried about loss of place under a
densification prosess.
In this assignment two densification alternatives will be presented as a basis for a
discussion about what kind of densification Stabekk tolerate. A final suggestion will be
presented at the end of the assignment. The goal is to build upon the areas local identity
and at the same time ensure good living qualities and add a variation in housing
types in an area dominated by detached houses. Another goal is to make sure that new
buildings form attractive urban - and outdoor spaces.
During the work with registration and analyzes i uncovered qualities and challenges at
Stabekk. Attractive and varying architecture, visible history, central location and good
coverage of public transportation are some of the qualities. Steep terrain, poorly earthsun
relationship, a uniform population, missing urban spaces and a center with too
little consideration of pedestrians and public life. Many of the qualities can also be seen
as challenges, for example can the consideration of existing buildings and landscape
put a stopper for development.
Studies of the compact city model and urban design theory give guidelines and recommendation
on how to succeed with densification and living quality, which is the goal in
this assignment. Urban life, safety, building structures, place identity, sustainability and
functional urban spaces are all important keywords in the final suggestion. | nb_NO |
