Sammendrag
The 8th October 2005 earthquake in Northern Pakistan resulted in nearly 83,000 casualties, which left over 2.8 Million people homeless and severely affected the livelihoods of 1.5 Million people. With destruction of physical, material assets and the communication infrastructure in this remote mountainous region, the quake had a devastating impact on people’s livelihoods. The focus of this study has been on the livelihood revival patterns of the affected people to assess their access to material and financial resources, such as credit and grants. The objectives of the research include exploring the role of cash grants, social networks and human agency in rebuilding livelihoods of communities affected by natural disasters.
