On the line: Using the Six Dimensions of Food Security to Examine Recipients and Key Informant’s Insights about Food Banks in the Greater Oslo Region.
Abstract
This is a master thesis for Global Development Studies.
The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences of food charitable assistance (food bank) recipients, along with insights from key informants about what they have learned and noticed when working at those locations. The primary data of this study comes from 30participants, through answered questionnaires and interviews. The study used the six dimensions of food security framework as a comprehensive theoretical framework to understand the participants' insights about the local food system and the impact of food banks. The framework was also used in the data analysis. The discussion chapter answered the research questions of what are the reasons for the growing need for food donations and what strategies were suggested by the participants to decrease the number of food insecure people in the Greater Oslo Region.
