Sammendrag
Abstract:

This thesis examines the influence of the EU taxonomy on sustainability practices among Norwegian businesses in the water and marine sectors. The EU taxonomy, designed to guide investments toward environmentally sustainable activities, is part of the European Green Deal. The study explores how these businesses adopt the taxonomy, their motivations, and the challenges they face.

Methodology:

A mixed-methods approach was used, incorporating surveys and annual reports from selected companies. The research assesses how businesses classify sustainable activities, the challenges of implementation, and the role of technological innovation and knowledge sharing. It also examines how the taxonomy affects financing decisions by banks and investors.

Findings:

Norwegian businesses are increasingly aligning with the EU taxonomy, though smaller companies face significant integration challenges. Support and clearer guidelines are needed. Technological advancements and knowledge exchange are vital for promoting sustainable practices.
