This thesis analyses how meteorology and emissions from vehicles has affected the air quality in Oslo during the period 2008-2017. The pollutant NO2 has a noticeable negative impact on the air in Oslo and affects large parts of the city's population. The concentration of NO2 will vary depending on the season and year. In the given period, there was a clear decreasing trend in the concentration of NO2. It was desirable that my analysis could determine which variables caused changes and trends in the concentration of NO2, so that safer air in Oslo could be achieved. A statistical analysis with the variables NO2, meteorology and road traffic was done, where NO2 was the variable that the other variables were compared with. The statistical tools that were used in the analysis was correlation, scatterplot and boxplot. The results showed that the meteorological variables could explain the seasonal variation in NO2 and showed correlated relationship with the unexplained variation in NO2. The analysis of the meteorological phenomenon inversion showed that number of inversions had greater significance with the concentration of NO2 than the length of the inversion. The traffic variables only showed a correlated relationship with the trend in NO2. The traffic variables were based on registered vehicles, as an estimate of the number of vehicles in Oslo. Furthermore, the traffic variables were based on less data compared to the other variables used in the analysis. Nevertheless, this thesis concluded that the change in traffic had an impact on the declining trend in NO2 in the period 2008-2017.nb_NO
