dc.description.abstractThis report was commissioned by the Provincial Planning Unit (PPU) of the Northern Province, Government of the Republic of Zambia and the Norwegian Agency for International Development (NORAD). The major objective of the study was to investigate the long term environmental effects of expanding agricultural production and other use of natural resources in the Northern Province (NP) of Zambia, and in particular to identify potential problems related to current agricultural development policies and practices. The study was undertaken by the Norwegian Centre for International Agricultural Development (NORAGRIC) in conjunction with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) during a three month period from September to November 1989.nb_NO
