Abstract

Fora long time different shifting cultivation systems have been practised by farmers in the high rainfall areas of Zambia. However, since the systems ate geared to a low level of productivity and bound to become increasingly inadequate as the population continues to increase, there is a need to adopt more stable agricultural systems to replace the present ones.
