The use of rape and sexual violence towards civilian women in war is not a new phenomenon. However, it is not until recently that this has become an issue on the international agenda. This thesis will use Feminist International Relations Theory to look at the cases of sexual violence as a weapon in war in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and whether or not international efforts made by international organizations have made any difference to stop the deliberate use of sexual violence as a weapon in war.nb_NO
