The political participation of women in the Muslim Brotherhood differs from country to country and depends on many factors. The aim of this thesis to shed light on the level of women's participation in the Muslim Brotherhood and explore the variation from one country to another. The Egyptian and Tunisian Muslim Brotherhood are presented in this thesis as case studies to show the range of differences of within the Muslim Brotherhood and the factors behind those differences. Tunisian women are more developed in political participation when compared to Egyptian women. The law itself guarantees gender equality between men and women in Tunisia, even though it is not totally applied in society. At the same time, Egyptian women in the Muslim Brotherhood still clash with local culture and patriarchic domination of life in Egypt. The Muslim Brotherhood in Tunisia is open-minded when explaining the narration of Prophet Mohammad regarding the level of women political participation.nb_NO
