dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this thesis is to identify challenges when implementing the standard ISO 50 001 Energy Management Systems. A literature review identified the following challenges when implementing a management system.
• The process demands a greater input than it gives output
• The purpose of the system is not recognized at other levels than the management
• Management Review of the system is not done regularly
These challenges were then presented to users of ISO 50 001. For the four interviewed respondents, the implementation of ISO 50 001 does not seem to face the same challenges as when implementing the other management systems. The three companies involved were all certified to two other management systems before they started on the ISO 50 001 certification processes. They are all energy intensive companies. These common properties might have contributed to the fact that none of the respondents recognized the challenges applicable for the other management system standards, for their implementation process for ISO 50 001. Implementation of energy management is in general experienced as a positive contribution to the company. | nb_NO |
