Sammendrag
In the context of climate change affecting grassland production, the role of extension services is

evolving to match Farmers' new expectations. Forage rummy was conceived as a collective non

prescriptive tool to engage farmers in reflection on farm systems design, asses their response to the

changing climate and reflect on possible adaptations.

This report presents the implementation of forage rummy in the Rhône-Alpes region. It was found to be

a unique tool to visualize the impact of climate change on the farm system, giving new insights on

forage balance and opening dialogue on multiple issues. However, technical, knowledge related and

organizational problems occurred and recommendations for its use were made. They include details on

the use of climatic data, format of workshops and profiles of participants.

Analysis of the farm systems and the adaptations proposed through the use of forage rummy was

conducted to assess their sustainability. Agroecological indicators measuring autonomy, diversity and

environmental impact showed that an optimum production per animal, early forage harvest, and spring

calving are aspects to be considered to strengthen the farm systems studied. And that forage rummy can

be used in an agroecological approach.
