The purpose of this study has been to examine the final stages of the tenure system in rural Norway. Even today, more than 100 years after we thought the tenure system was abolished, the remains can still be found. The area of my study has been Engerdal municipality in Hedmark. The main findings of my study is that we even today can find remains of the tenure system in the studied area, although with features from the leasehold institute.no_NO
