En Minnepark för döda och levande

Abstract

Uppsatsen, En Minnepark för döda och levande, är skriven av Helena von Bergen som avslutning på ett femårigt masterstudium i landskapsarkitektur vid Universitetet for miljø- og biovitenskap i Norge. Uppsatsens kärna är att genom argumentation försöka medvetandegöra komplexiteten kring gravläggning i Norge idag och hur den påverkar utformningen av gravplatserna i landet. En av frågorna som ställs är, vad ska en gravplats innehålla som kan ta tillvara både döda och levande människor, utan att göra detta med religiösa förtecken? Som svar på ett uttalat behov för ritualer vid avsked och begravelse, argumenteras det för att anlägga en livssynsneutral gravplats. Denna programmeras, för avsked men lika mycket för återhämtning av livsglädje. Mottot för programeringen är ”overganger og bevegelse”. Uppsatsen visar till en överordnad landskapsplan för en Minnepark som ett komplement till dagens kyrkogård och som tillmötesgår Sarpsborgs vestre gravplatsbehov. Minneparken visas till som det enda livssynsneutrala gravplatsalternativet för hela Østfold fylke. Genom att planlägga för en utökad kremeringsandel med möjlighet för, och uppmuntring till askspridning, medför detta att platsen heller inte ska behöva utvidgas efter sista byggfas. Minneparken har ingen segregering med egna fält för olika trosuppfattningar men klar begränsning för kistegravlägging. Däremot delas området upp likt ett partitur, i olika teman där det finns valmöjlighet att välja vilken avdelning, och gravtyp som passar familjen eller vedkommande bäst. Dagens gällande Norska Gravferdslov från 1996 är under uppsatsens tillkomst under bearbetning. Den nya lagen skal träda i kraft år 2013. I texten till Prop. 81 L (2010–2011) av Gjølstautvalgets formuleringar till den nya gravfärdslagen, som redogörs mer för i huvudtexten, finner vi ett centralt föremål i ändringsförslaget, som mastergraduppsatsen tar fäste kring, nämligen att bättre tillrättalägga för olika behov i förbindelse med begravning. ”Alle skal gravlegges med verdighet og respekt for personlig tro/livssyn. Gravferd skal så langt som mulig skje i overensstemmelse med de regler den enkelte religion eller tradisjon krever. This essay, A Memory Park for the dead and the living, is written by Helena von Bergen, being her final Master´s degree of Landscape Construction and Management at UMB, The Norwegian University of Life Sciences. The main task of the essay is to increase the awareness of the complexity of burials in Norway today, and point out how this complexity affects the design of Norwegian graveyards. One of the actual questions is this: What shall be the contents of a graveyard which 1) takes care of the needs of the living as well as the dead, and 2) has no specific religious overtones? As an answer to the needs linked to rituals concerning funerals, there will be an argumentation for the construction of a graveyard untied to any specific belief. The graveyard shall be programmed for a respectful farewell, but also for a revival of life´s joys. The motto for this programme is ”Transitions and Movements”. Von Bergen´s essay contains a main plan for the landscape, where a Memory Park, neutral towards different beliefs, is constructed as an addition to today´s churchyard, all together meeting the city of Sarpsborg´s western areas´ needs for 100 daa. The Memory Park will be the only neutral alternative graveyard in the County of Østfold. Through planning for an increased use of cremations, and offering the possibility of spreading ashes freely into specific waters, and areas, there will be no need for expansions after the final building period. The Memory Park has no segregation; there will be no specific areas for different beliefs. Instead, the area is divided into different themes, where there is a possibility to choose the theme and the type of tomb that best suits the family´s or the dead person´s own last will. One limit is that there will be few coffin graves in the area. Today´s Norwegian Law concerning Burials from 1996 has undergone certain changes during the making of this essay. There will be a new Law on Burials in 2013. In the text of Prop. 81 L (2010 – 2011), the Gjølstad Committee formulates a central idea that is also included in the Master essay: To improve the possibility to meet different needs concerning funerals: ”Anybody shall be buried with dignity and respect for their personal beliefs and conviction. Burials shall as far as possible be performed in harmony with the rules and traditions in question. If in each Municipality this is not possible, one must find regional solutions that does not apply any extra costs for persons concerned.” End of quotation. The Essay is parted in four parts: PART 1 The main task of the essay is to increase the awareness of the complexity of burials in Norway today, and point out how this complexity affects the design of Norwegian graveyards.
