When placing and shaping circulation routes in a good way, the visitor can experience the landscape better and engage in it. Today, we are more and more aware that the landscape is a resource to be used in the development of a place and we realise the importance of good and strategic management of the landscape. In this paper a method for planning circulation routes in the aim of creating landscape experiences, is developed. The method is supposed to show how planning for circulation can be done in a way that will contribute positively to the development of a place. In the first sections litterature will be studied in order to conclude with a method for planning circulation routes. Then the method will be illustrated in a case study; Rollag municipality. Large parts of the municipality have been included in a protected area after a process full of conflicts between national authorities and land owners. Today the local council together with private participants are working actively to develop ways to use the protected area and the landscape generally as a resource. In this paper a structure of biking and walking routes around and through the protected area are suggested. The aim is to create experiences of the landscape that can be used for tourism or by locals. Some important principles to take into account in a planning process of this kind is foundation in the place and having local cooperation both as a means and a goal in the planning process. The aim should be to plan circulation which enables experiences in the landscape with all senses where the audience is an active participant in the landscape.en_US
