| dc.description.abstract | Nygårdsparken er en offentlig park i Bergen sentrum. Den er på omlag 75 dekar og anlagt i engelsk stil. Parken ligger i en skråning på Nygårdshøyden og er nabo til boligkvartaler, næringsområder og en rekke kultur- og undervisningsinstitusjoner. Parken ble etablert for å sikre byens borgere et stort og åpent offentlig friareal, etter impulser fra utlandet. Eiendommen ble
kjøpt i 1880, og etter bare fem år sto parken ferdig. Parken har karakteristiske slyngende gangveier, dammer og gamle varmekjære trær. Mange sjeldne
treslag har voksested her, som eneste sted i landet, og parken har stor botanisk verdi.
Nygårdsparken har gjennom årene vært rammen for store og små arrangement og tilstelninger, men har siden 70-tallet vært tilholdssted for byens narkomane. Siden dengang har parken blitt mindre attraktiv for publikum og problemene med den åpne narkotikascenen har blitt omfattende. Det er idag knyttet debatt til hvorvidt politikerne skal forsøke å flytte de narkomane bort eller beholde dagens situasjon hvor en stor del av den synlige rusmiddelmisbruken er konsentrert i parken. Denne oppgaven tar for seg dagens situasjon, med tanke på parkens forfatning og debatten rundt de narkomane. Det finnes mange meninger, men få løsninger på problemet. Men tilstedeværelsen av narkomane er muligens ikke det eneste problemet, og man må ikke la dette overskygge parkens øvrige utfordringer. Områdene rundt Nygårdsparken er under stor utvikling, og fremtidig fortetting gjør parken viktigere enn noensinne. Parken har potensiale til å bli nabolagspark for veldig mange og er en viktig grønn lunge i en stadig voksende by. Prosjekteringsforslagene fokuserer på innganger og oppholdsarealer. Gjør man parken tilgjengelig vil det være med på å gjøre parken attraktiv for alle, uavhengig av de narkomanes nærvær. Nygårdsparken is a public park in the city center of Bergen. The park is approximately 75 acres, landscaped as a English landscape park. It is located on a slope of Nygårdshøyden and is adjacent to
residential quarters, industrial areas and a number of cultural and educational institutions. Influenced by parks in Europe the park was established to ensure the citizens of Bergen a large and open public space. The property was purchased in 1880, and completed only five years later. There are characteristic winding walkways, ponds, as well as old trees. Many rare species of trees are found here as the only place in the
country and the park is of great botanical value. Nygårdsparken has since the beginning been the scene for events and functions, both small and large.
However, since the 1970s it has also been the haunt of drug addicts, a fact that which has rendered the park less attractive to the public as the problems of the open drug trade and abuse have been extensive. Currently, there is a debate concerning whether the politicians should attempt to force out the drug addicts, or accept the current situation where extensive visible drug abuse is concentrated in the park. This paper examines the current situation, considering the condition of Nygårdsparken and the debate regarding the drug addicts. There are many opinions but few solutions to the problem. However, the presence
of drug addicts is probably not the only problem of the park; there are other challenges to take into account as well. The areas around Nygårdsparken are under heavy development, and future densifying makes the park more important than ever. Potentially, the park could be the neighborhood-park for many people, and it is an important green space in an ever-growing city. Design proposals are focusing on entries and areas of use of the park. In making Nygårdsparken more accessible, the
park would be more attractive to everyone, regardless of the presence of the drug addicts. | no_NO |
