"Raske svingninger i moteverdenen", En analyse av forsyningskjeden til BIK BOK

Abstract

I denne masteroppgaven har jeg studert og analysert Bik Boks virksomhet og forsyningskjede. Hensikten med oppgaven er få en innsikt i hva som foregår bak kulissene i moteindustrien. I form av hvordan kleskjeder som Bik Bok koordinerer planlegging av kolleksjoner, distribusjon og hvordan de greier å tilby varer som svarer på gjeldende trender til rett tid.

Ut ifra dybdeintervjuer med ansatte i Bik Bok kom det frem at deres todelte forsyningskjede er skreddersydd deres behov for å holde et lavt kostnadsnivå, og være tilstrekkelig responsive. Det lave kostnadsnivået oppnås ved å outsource produksjon til produsenter i lavkostland. Responsiviteten sikres ved å outsource produksjon av trendbaserte klær til Tyrkia.

I fremtiden kan det bli vanskeligere å få tak i billig arbeidskraft i Kina som er i rask økonomisk vekst. I forbindelse med dette må Bik Bok være forberedt på hvordan de skal takle en slik utvikling. Kjeden kan takle dette ved gradvis å gå over til å outsource mer produksjon til de andre leverandørlandene.

Bik Boks ERP-system, M3, har et stort utviklingspotensial. Kjeden har hatt M3 i 3-4 år, og det er de mest grunnleggende funksjonene som er blitt implementert hittil. M3 er ikke integrert med distributører, og Bik Bok må som følge av dette jobbe manuelt med logistikk. Dette er en tidkrevende og tungvint måte å jobbe på. Det bør derfor legges til rette for en integrasjon mellom M3 og distributører i fremtiden. I oppgaven finnes teori om blant annet Quick Response, Fast Fashion, Forbedret Design (Enhanced Design), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) teknologi, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), motens livssykluser, Boston Consulting Group Matrisen (BCG Matrisen) og Produktlivssyklusen. Motekjedene som studeres i ”mini-caser” er Zara, Hennes & Mauritz, World Company, Benetton og New Look.

In this master’s thesis I have studied and analyzed Bik Bok’s operations and supply chain. The purpose of the thesis is to get an insight into what goes on behind the scenes in the fashion industry. In terms of how the clothing chains such as Bik Bok are coordinating the planning of collections, distribution, and how they are able to offer products that match the current trends at the right time. Based on depth interviews with employees from Bik Bok, it was discovered that their twopart supply chain is tailored to their need to maintain a low-cost level, and to be sufficiently responsive. The low-cost level is achieved by outsourcing production to manufacturers in low-cost countries. Responsiveness is ensured by outsourcing production of trend-based clothing to Turkey. In the future it may be difficult to get cheap labor in China. China is undergoing rapid economic growth. In connection with this, Bik Bok should be prepared to tackle such a development. The chain can handle this by gradually moving towards outsourcing more production to the other supplier countries. Bik Bok’s ERP system, M3, has a great potential for development. The chain has had M3 for 3-4 years, and it is the most basic features that have been implemented so far. M3 is not integrated with distributors, and Bik Bok has to work manually with the logistics as a result of this. This is a time consuming and cumbersome way to work. It should therefore be implemented an integration between the M3 system and distributors in the future. Theory included in the thesis is about Quick Response, Fast Fashion, Enhanced Design, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), fashion lifecycles, Boston Consulting Group matrix (BCG matrix) and The Product Life Cycle. Fashion chains studied in the "mini-cases" are Zara, Hennes & Mauritz, the World Company, Benetton and New Look.
