This study is a part of a bigger project aimed to develop a certification system for carbon stock changes due to afforestation in Iceland. This is interesting because carbon credits created by removals of CO2 from the atmosphere then can be marketed when markets for such products open. This study focuses on measuring the carbon stock changes on afforestation sites by carrying out a case study on three different estates where afforestation has been carried out. The specific aim of the study is to see if conventional forest inventory practices have to be altered to meet requirements of authorized carbon stock accounting. The study will also analyze the inventory costs and accuracy to point out the most efficient and economic measurement intensity.no_NO
