Abstract
Triclosan have been tested for inhibition effect on greywater bacteria during four correlated experiments. Greywater LECA filters were added triclosan diluted in methanol in one labscale and one bench-scale experiments. COD values were used to determine differences between filters with and without triclosan addition. Triclosan was also added in two respiration experiments with microbiological evelopment in closed glass bottles. Logging of pressure fall with WTW OxiTop® equipment made it possible to study espiration curves. This study indicates that triclosan has an inhibition effect on greywater bacteria, but that the effect is dependent on certain conditions. The results from the study also imply that triclosan in those concentrations which have been found in household greywater is not likely to affect
the treatment ability of a greywater filter. However, many uncertainties makes more studying of the topic necessary.
